F&HN Direct
Aim
To foster closer working relationships
between IFR scientists and our industrial colleagues.
F&HN Direct will enable IFR scientists to acquire
a greater understanding of the issues of the food industry
and so provide the industry with individually targeted
solutions to their problems.
Rationale
This is a one-to-one confidential meeting
with food and related companies, under the protection
of a confidentiality agreement. The format has 3 stages:
- Stage 1This is a general introduction
to the Institutes’ activity and will be led by the
Institute Commercial Manager or selected scientists.
This may take the format of a surgery at the site
of the company or presentations at IFR when the company
is invited to our site. Nevertheless Stage 1 will
always be a general introduction to areas of science
rather than specific discussion of detailed issues.
- Stage 2 is a follow up stage. This
will occur via the Commercial Manager, and occurs
after an agreed interval has passed in order that
industry can have time to decide the areas of IFR
science that it wishes to pursue. Stage 2 will involve
meetings with industry by the Commercial Manager or
specific scientists to address specific detailed issues
raised in the Stage 1 activities. The outcome should
always be fed into Stage 3.
- Stage 3 is a project proposal to
address means of undertaking a project to investigate
the specific problems identified in Stage 2.
The F&HN Direct team will typically
be three to four senior people representing your areas
of interest and drawn from IFR's expertise in food safety,
nutrition, materials science, mathematics, sensing and
control.
